About Us
OHANA Studios was founded by a husband-and-wife team Dan and Bonnie Burgess. Together, we built OHANA around a simple belief: people should feel cared for, respected, and celebrated, not rushed through a process.
Dan leads the photography, creative direction, systems, and operations behind OHANA Studios. His work focuses on creating a smooth, professional experience for schools, teams, athletes, and families, while constantly improving the way OHANA serves its clients.
Bonnie brings heart, organization, care, and a people-first approach to the business. Her support helps shape the experience OHANA is known for — one built on patience, kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for the families, schools, and communities we serve.
Together, we specialize in school, sports, senior, and volume photography, along with graphic design and print services that help schools, teams, athletes, and families celebrate important moments. From picture day and senior banners to media days, team portraits, yearbook photography, and custom print products, our goal is to make the entire experience organized, professional, and easy.
At OHANA, we believe great photography is about more than creating a good image. It is about serving people well, communicating clearly, showing up prepared, and delivering work that schools and families can trust.
The Team

Bonnie Burgess
Co-Founder
Bonnie is the co-founder of OHANA Studios and the detail-focused eye behind much of the care and quality we are known for.
Every image that leaves OHANA passes through Bonnie’s eyes. She personally reviews and culls every photo, zooming in, checking details, and making sure each image meets our standard before it moves forward. If something needs extra attention, she flags it for editing so nothing gets overlooked. In a world where so much is automated, Bonnie brings a personal, human level of quality control to every gallery.
Bonnie also plays an important role on photoshoots. While shoulder injuries have limited how much she photographs, she is often there making sure everything runs smoothly, helping subjects look their best, and catching the little details that matter — fixing hair, smoothing clothing, checking posture, and helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Behind the scenes, Bonnie helps with lead generation, client care, planning, and the many moving pieces that keep OHANA serving schools, families, athletes, and communities well.
She is the steady support every team needs: thoughtful, detail-focused, encouraging, and committed to making sure people are cared for and the final result is something families can truly love.

Dan Burgess
Co-Founder
Dan is the co-founder of OHANA Studios and one of the creative and operational forces behind the company.
He specializes in school, sports, senior, volume, and media day photography, with a focus on creating a smooth, organized experience for schools, athletes, families, and organizations. Whether he is photographing picture day, building a team schedule, working with an athletic department, or solving a client problem, Dan’s goal is to make the process easier and more dependable for everyone involved.
Behind the scenes, Dan spends a lot of time building the systems that help OHANA serve clients well. From automation and scheduling to communication, galleries, reporting, and workflow design, he is always looking for better ways to make OHANA more organized, scalable, and reliable.
Dan believes photography is service. A great image matters, but so does how people are treated before, during, and after the photo is taken. His focus is simple: serve people well, do the right thing, and help create an experience families and schools can trust.
At OHANA, Dan works alongside Bonnie to carry out the company’s mission: Find the Joy, Be the Joy.

Mandy Agnew
Director of Communications
Mandy is the Director of Communications at OHANA Studios, helping keep clients informed, schedules organized, and projects moving smoothly from start to finish.
She manages much of OHANA’s communication with customers, schools, families, and organizations, making sure questions are answered, details are clear, and each client feels cared for throughout the process. Mandy also leads our social media presence, sharing the stories, images, and moments that reflect the heart of OHANA.
Her role extends behind the scenes as well, including scheduling, lead generation, customer support, photo editing, and production coordination. On larger photoshoots, Mandy may also assist on-site, helping the team stay organized and making sure the day runs smoothly.
Whether she is coordinating with a school, responding to a parent, supporting a shoot, or helping prepare a gallery, Mandy brings care, professionalism, and a service-minded approach to everything she does.

Josue Mateo
Creative Production Associate
Mateo is a Creative Production Associate at OHANA Studios, supporting the team both on-site and behind the scenes.
He brings a strong creative eye to OHANA through both videography and photography. On photoshoots, Josue helps capture images and video, assists with setup and production needs, and supports the team in keeping the day organized and moving smoothly.
Mateo is also growing in the post-production side of the business, learning more about photo editing and the detailed workflow that happens after a shoot. His willingness to learn, create, and step in wherever needed makes him an important part of the OHANA team.
Whether he is behind the camera, helping on-site, or developing new creative skills, Mateo brings energy, creativity, and a team-first attitude to the work we do.
Our Story
Before OHANA Studios, there was D&B Forever Photography — and D&B still exists today. It was where our photography journey began, and it continues to be part of who we are.
OHANA Studios grew from something deeper than photography. It grew from faith, family, love, loss, and the people God placed in our lives.

Our son Josh had a way of making people feel like family. One of those people was Adrian, Josh’s teammate and one of his closest friends. Josh called him his brother. To Josh, things like race or background did not matter. If he loved you, you were family.
Before Josh passed away, he once asked Bonnie if she could love Adrian the way she loved him. Josh saw Adrian as a brother, and to him, family was something meant to grow. Of course, Bonnie said yes.
After Josh was killed in December 2018, Adrian was with us constantly. Over time, he became even more a part of our family and eventually moved in with us. While we were already doing photography, we were still just getting started in the sports photography side of the business.
One night, after watching Lilo & Stitch, Adrian told us, “You guys love me like OHANA.”
Later that night, while we were talking about photography, he said it would be cool to have something called OHANA Sports Photography. That conversation became the beginning of the name.
OHANA Sports Photography started as a DBA under D&B Forever Photography. As the work grew beyond sports into schools, seniors, banners, media days, design, printing, and more, it eventually became OHANA Studios.
Today, Adrian has graduated college and is a registered nurse. Lily is in college and still cheering. Jeffrey is married and working with his family’s business. We are deeply grateful for the healing, growth, and life we have been able to witness since that season.
Josh’s life continues to shape ours. Through him, we learned even more deeply that family is not only about blood. It is about love, loyalty, faith, and showing up for people.
We have had the privilege of loving many people Josh impacted during his life, and we are so grateful for the time we had with him on this earth.
That is the heart behind OHANA Studios.
OHANA means family. For us, it is not just a name. It is our story, our purpose, and the way we hope to serve every school, athlete, family, and community we work with.

Our Culture
At OHANA Studios, our motto is simple: Find the Joy, Be the Joy.
We believe joy is something you look for, create, and share. Whether we are photographing students, athletes, families, schools, or teams, our goal is to bring patience, positivity, professionalism, and care into every interaction.
OHANA Studios is rooted in Christian values that shape the way we serve: honesty, kindness, humility, accountability, and respect for every person. We believe the way people are treated matters just as much as the images we create.
OHANA means family, and that is how we aim to operate — with trust, encouragement, integrity, and a commitment to doing what is right.
